ICE offered Chief Daniel Comeaux $25 million for help by Dallas police officers to arrest “immigrants.“ Comeaux said, “Absolutely not.” Police spokesperson Corbin Rubinson explained that the department and the Chief are focused on serving our city by fighting crime.

This is the 1st government shut down since Trump’s first term. (There were no shutdowns during Biden‘s 2 terms.) The shutdown continues until Congress agrees on a plan to extend funding. While Congress is out of town, Trump plans to fire more federal employees.
Democrats asked repeatedly to meet about the federal budget, but Republicans (including Trump) refused to meet. Democrats remained in DC to negotiate, but the House Republicans left town. Consequently, the federal government will shut down on 9/30/25.
