Now needing a hand to cling to
Lucky I was to find
Someone of similar mind to stand behind me
Not letting dazzlement blind me
Showing me where to find me
Willing to just be kind, oh-oh-oh
And stand behind me.

But it seems to me that there IS a line. Humans are the only species capable of causing the extinction of other species, including our own. Uncharacteristically, I’m not hopeful, but I’m trying to take comfort in Goodall’s optimism: “…there is hope…It's in our hands… it’s really up to us.”

With the passing of Jane Goodall today, we lost one of the most consequential voices in environmental science and animal behavior. In 2002, she said, “We have found that…there isn't a sharp line dividing humans from the rest of the animal kingdom.”

Merry Clayton recorded "Oh No Not My Baby" in 1972, featuring co-writer Carole King on piano. The delightful clip below shows them working it out in the studio...
Produced by Lou Adler, Clayton's track earned a nom for the Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for the year 1972.

"Once the inspiration comes, that directs where the perspiration goes, where the work goes. The inspiration part is where it comes through you, but then the shaping of it, the craft of it, is something that I pride myself in knowing how to do it." - CK

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire.
