Response to ask:

Charmy 100% has no idea why Vector and Espio are so wary of Mephiles. They’ve certainly tried explaining as best they could in kid-friendly terms, but Charmy just doesn’t understand.

He knows Silver’s from the future (“So cool!”), Shadow’s an alien (“Wicked!”), and Sonic’s… well, Sonic. He also knows Mephiles is their dad. His 6-year-old brain just can’t put together those two facts to realize the conflict.

Charmy still sides with the Chaotix since they’re his family, but he thinks it’s just some sort of game or something. He’ll take the spying missions with complete seriousness (as serious as a child can be), but once they’re caught, he’ll wave and happily say “hi” while Vector and Espio scramble for an excuse.

Otherwise, he doesn’t think much of the guy beyond “Sonic’s dad”.

Charmy flies up to Mephiles (who is in his mortal disguise) and waves at him. “Hi, Sonic’s dad!” He says. Mephiles replies “hello, youngling.” Charmy excitedly declares, “The Chaotix are definitely gonna catch you bring evil today!” Mephiles smiles, amused. “Oh really?”
