Ok an introduction post since we’re all new here. I’m a cartoonist who sometimes get published in places like Private Eye. I also like doing art challenges and occasional caricatures of politicians and famous folk

Goldfish bowl is tipping over would you be the goldfish clinging on inside in the hope some water remains or the one on the surfboard riding the wave but not knowing what is beyond the bowl (probably carpet)

Yak shaving is a software development term for all the smaller tasks you get sidelined into doing before you can achieve a desired goal. Monday #mythicalmashup is yak + breakfast in bed so here is the Yak shaving version of that

Yak: I want breakfast in bed
Programmer: first I must invent a bed for a Yak weighing up to 580kg
Programmer: then I need to source a double sized tray
programmer: wait Yaks don’t have opposable thumbs so can they use cutlery?
Yak: I just want breakfast in bed

2 points:
1. Opposable thumbs shouldn’t be a prerequisite for using a fork or spoon but they do help
2 it’s debatable in the yak shaving explanations online if the tasks are unrelated but necessary or some kind of programming procrastination that you just need to overcome
