It's with patience and love that we hear the news today of ceasefire, and removal of troops from Gaza, and release of all hostages.

Who will now governor Gaza, will take some time, and rebuild will need to be led via co-production with all stakeholders.

Israel and Hamas agree first phase of Gaza ceasefire deal - BBC News
The deal will see the release of hostages held in Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and raises hopes for peace after two years of war.

I'm very grateful to have the endorsement of Worthing West's Peggy Harris - educator, activist and stalwart of our movement.

Securing Sussex's economic future means harnessing our collective talents to create secure, well-paying jobs people in Sussex can build a life on.

What a day at conference day 2 watched an impactful discussion between @carolecadwalla.bsky.social and @carolvorders.bsky.social (got a standing ovation). They were talking truth to power on the control of silicon valley in our politics.

Met with some great members to talk NEC elections next year.

🧵3. In addition the 2-day nomination window, would have been a big disadvantage for any disabled candidate, who wished to put themselves forward. Regarding speed of access to MPs. This and the above goes against rulebook pg26 section C (v) which talks of equal access to eligible electorate.

🧵 2... "whilst I recognised that hosting a hustings at Labour Conference was sensible and cost effective. The MPs nominations process could have been longer as recess is this coming Tues (16.09), which could have allowed more time for other candidates to organise nominations.

🧵1. They say a week is a long time in politics!

Our team member Cat Arnold getting a mention in this week's New Statesman was rather a surprise! Although she did not use the phrase "stitch-up" at any point - publicly or privately.

Cat voted against the Deputy Leadership timetable, in her words..

🧵3.
3. I could not raise an amendment that all nom candidates when contacting CLP chairs are given the SAME list,we've seen unfavoured candidates being offered diff lists than others.
4. The above goes against Empower Labour's objectives of removing barriers of entry for anyone in politics. End

Absolutely 💯 knew this, and that is why I actively campaigned against switching to the Conservatives Family Hub model, that was rolled out in Sussex. Travesty.

📊 #IFSSatStat: Sure Start has generated widespread, long-lasting benefits for children in education.

Access to a Sure Start centre from birth significantly improved children’s educational attainment, with benefits lasting at least until GCSEs (age 16).
Chart showing Sure Start generated benefits for children up to adolescence, including improved GCSE results. Title states "Effects of Sure Start on achievement by age."

Thanks to @ewaslabour.bsky.social and #WestWorthing Labour Party (CLPs) that invited Henna Chowdhury and I to a joint women's event last night.

We talked: challenges to women standing for positions, what its like when you're elected and my role at Labour Party’s NEC. It was honest, open and warm.

Happy Victory in Europe 80th anniversary celebrations.

This original @dailymirror cartoon is a stark reminder of how we must fight fascism everywhere we see it, feel it or experience it, whether it affects us or not. There is no freedom unless we are all free. #VE #Day #80th
