Simply, it is 'flavors' of the same base.

For example, Ubuntu has distros like Pop!_OS and Linux Mint. Or Arch Linux has Manjaro and EndeavourOS.

Basically, more options for the same base (heck even Ubuntu is based on Debian)

One thing is for certain though, you either make it work or give up and go for alternatives.

And if you want my recommendation, Ubuntu distros are good starts, and Arch distros are really customizable, so choose either and commit to it.

Oh no i switched back to Windows, compatibility issues with games and applications I want to use. But if you have that sorted and you get everything up and running, it is a really good alternative.
