I loved Tom Lehrer so much that when I was 13 I wrote a satiric poem (not being a composer) about my classmates and teachers but the school didn’t think it was funny, assumed it was some kind of scary list of targets, and I got sent to boarding school out of state. anyway RIP to a legend

tbh it wasn't actually apropos of nothing, this post was apropos of looking at a picture from when Pippin was a puppy and going, wait a minute, he had wide eyes, type B--i need to make a chart or a graph

apropos of nothing but when authors describe characters with "wide eyes" i know intellectually they usually mean A but my brain always translates to B

i guess people are talking about if the NYC subway is scary and i'll chime in on this one. sometimes people in the car with you are talking or sleepy or annoying. sometimes people even sing at you! i don’t care for the singing. but the subway is not scary. what it is is not very accessible

A embroidery hoop with needle felted wool of a sky shortly after sunset. Dark blue tree line in the foreground and pink and grey clouds over a medium blue sky. There's also a silhouette of power lines. The overall effect is that the art is not particularly good but someone certainly tried her best.

for me it’s a reminder that i’m naturally impatient but that rushing can produce sloppy results. but possibly the messy quick handwriting is more authentic than the tidy rounded letters i make when i go slow. i’m always jealous of other people’s handwriting, too! especially if it seems consistent

-bombing people is really bad
-we must stop the ppl in charge from doing it
-by using a variety of tactics to get them to stop
-including but not limited to making a big stink about the group chat stuff
-while remembering the goal is zero bombs & no state violence

THE PHONE SEX POEM
i can't picture what kind of dirty talk i would even enjoy receiving. mostly the things i think about are quiet. a musky shirt-collar. prolonged eye contact, a belligerent smile. repressing laughter, sex as a joke i can't stop laughing at.
i think about taking something that wants to be taken. i think about leaving a party with my husband. saying goodbye to absolutely no one, including the host. i think about undressing in a hallway. i think about a belt. i think about taking my time with said belt. i think about each notch slipping under the buckle, becoming opened and also undone. good sex is wanted sex, of course. but good sex might not be clean. i want to be unclean without feeling like spoiled fruit. i want to be consumed without disappearing.
it's complicated, this dancing. sometimes i want to be convinced. sometimes it's a game. sometimes to be won is winning. sometimes i want to be pushed. to let someone push you is an opportunity to be brave. sometimes i want to be put on a pedestal. sometimes i want to be down on the floor.
