"If great powers abandon even the pretense of rules & values for the unhindered pursuit of their power & interest, the gains from transactionalism will become harder to replicate" -- Carney's speech at Davos is an extended criticism of the damage Trump is doing (though he's not mentioning his name)

Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "

Big deal. Smart: “Part of the EV quota will be reserved for cars with an import price of $35,000 or less, Mr. Carney said. The proportion of the quota dedicated to this category will rise 50 per cent by 2030, he said, “kickstarting the availability of more affordable electric vehicles in Canada.”

Great to catch up with former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien to give him a copy of my book. #RunLikeAGirl. He has been a great mentor. He gave me the best political advice that I would turn to when I had a really tough decision to make: “Canadians are reasonable. Be reasonable.” Truth!

Ten years ago, 🇨🇦 showed up at #COP21 to help land an ambitious Paris Agreement: The PM, Premiers, opposition members, Indigenous leaders, environmentalists, business leaders & youth.

We need that same spirit now to do the work at home - it’s about tackling climate change & winning the future.
