That was the after-dinner, back-of-a-napkin deal agreed by Johnson, if I remember rightly?

Superb writing. Articulate, witty and achingly observant of the state we're in.

Oh yes, my favourite! I love mine with lots of freshly ground black pepper and then finished with a swirl of cream.

I agree, if they're used to it and it's part of their routines, it's no problem!
The only time I dressed a cat was in a little blue onesie after she was spayed, to stop her aggravating her stitches because the "cone of shame" was impossible to keep on her!

The blessed thing was delivered at the end of July and it has taken ages to get round to preparing the ground, lay the base and then the epic task of painting it.
Weather has been unpredictable (too hot, too rainy) so we've got this window of opportunity before winter sets in.
Will def. post photos.

While I am not into dressing up my own cats, I am so tickled by these Shrek bonnets and love the pic of a kitty modelling one!

I think hairless cats should always wear cardigans, by the way.

How weird and wonderful are these!?

The duopoly’s corporate coup over the UK via free zones and the likes of Blackrock is accelerating.
Don’t people understand why the MSM aren’t covering this?
Secondary legislation embedded in free zones means zero Parliamentary debate, zero public consultation, zero press notification!

HI again! I'm going to do a roast dinner tomorrow as I've been out in the garden most of the day and have no energy left.
Roast potatoes are the food of the gods.
In other news, I have painted nearly all the greenhouse pieces now so we may be assembling tomorrow, woohoo!

Between 2019 and 2024 in real terms EU exports grew by 11%.

UK exports also grew. By 0.89%.

That's the total. Goods exports were lower in real terms in 2024 than in 2014.

Here's something going under the radar @zackpolanski.bsky.social
We're being sold out by this Labour govt which is continuing the work of the previous Tory govt.

Teesside’s freeport, initiated in 2021 under Rishi Sunak, has cost £560 million far exceeding the standard £25 million allocation (22 times the standard £25m).
90% profits go to the private sector.
This clearly shows the UK model of State aid post-Brexit is utterly corrupt.

Could I politely suggest that you avoid the catchphrases which sound like "make (something) (great) again"?
It's just too easy to compare to the"MAGA" slogan. Please choose different words! You should distance yourselves very far from that nonsense.

'Most people now know someone in bed with COVID. If someone says they are in bed with flu, it’s almost certainly COVID, given the number of people admitted to hospital for COVID last week was 50 times higher than the number admitted for flu!' @chrischirp.bsky.social

After a long pause, I've just done another England Covid & NHS update as we head into the autumn/winter season.

TLDR: we're in a significant Covid wave now, the NHS is stretched, get boosted if you're eligible.

Good morning Mushen and Beans!
Glad to hear you've slept better - it always makes the day more do-able if your battery is charged up!
Roast dinners are the solution to most things.
Garden today: raised beds to paint and line. Greenhouse base is ready to build on.
Have an enjoyable day both! 😊

On #BBCQT - Fiona Bruce said that the audience and public didn't want to press Reform UK on their dodgy links to Russia.

I disagree.

RT if you agree it's in the public interest for Reform to explain about their links to Russian money and bribery!

Rats leaving a sinking ship -
which refers to people abandoning a difficult situation before it gets any worse.
These people are not very nice, they're only in it for themselves, they have no loyalty or commitment, just wanting to save themselves, to hell with anyone else.

Exactly this. We need rapid development of therapeutics which will alleviate the suffering of millions of people.
Just because we're older, doesn't mean that we don't want to feel better, regain some of what we've lost, get quality of life.

My anger is immense regarding the politicisation of Covid.
