Scholars embarking on significant research in gender and politics - submit a proposal for the 2025 Catt Prize. The prize includes a $2,500 cash award for each project selected. Honorable mention prizes of up to $1,200 per project may also be awarded.

On Feb. 14, 1920, the national League of Women Voters was formally organized at NAWSA’s convention in Chicago, six months before the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guaranteeing women the right to vote was ratified.

At its 1919 convention, NAWSA resolved to form a league of women voters. That fall, Catt and other women’s suffrage leaders went on a “Wake Up America” tour to advocate for ratification of the 19th Amendment and explain the purpose of the newly-formed league.

During her second term as president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, Carrie Chapman Catt wrote about the creation of an organization to train women in their new duties of citizenship once voting rights were won.
