Bitch, come on.

When SaaS products grow and the architecture starts to break down, two types of devs emerge:

1. Those who believe the system is beyond repair and needs to be totally rebuilt

2. Those who put their heads down and fix it one piece at a time

I've only seen group #2 be successful.

The most humbling part of writing a presentation to explain a concept, is coming to realize you don’t understand the thing you want to present as well as you thought you did.

The whole starter packs concept seems like a good idea. But then I go into some profiles and they follow 30k people. And I wonder, what’s the point? It’s like having dozens of books in “currently reading” on Goodreads, you’re never going to get through all that.

Finished reading “Make Work Visible” last evening, which is all about the flow of work and exposing bottle necks and “time thieves”. I liked it but as with all “how do we work” books I’ve read it always seem to boil down to “to do this you need a major change in the culture of the company”

Okay starting to really like some of the design decisions in Bluesky. Just found out I can unpin the Discover-feed to remove it as a tab. So now I have to actively search it out to be caught by the infinite scroll troll. 🧌

One weird thing I’ve noticed with using #anki daily is that for certain flash cards I am reinforcing the wrong answer. Each time I get to certain cards I think “OK I got this wrong last time, so I must take the opposite of my gut feeling”, and then it turns out I should have listened to my stomach

Self-imposed rules I’m trying to follow with social media at the moment:
1. Don’t install native apps, only interact with apps through browsers
2. Use extensions in browsers to block any attention-capturing algorithm-driven parts of the apps
3. Don’t allow them to notify me in any way, not even mail
November 5, 2024 at 7:07 AM
Okay so I like the straightforwardness of saying this, but at the same time I don’t want to be served content by an algorithm. That is exactly what is cursed about the current era of Internet
