Most of the junk you buy won’t last two years. Great headphones can last literally a lifetime. AirPods are cool and I use them a lot but my Audeze LCD-X and Shure 846 genuinely change how you feel about listening to music and are built to last decades.

We went out for the first time since having our baby and I'd forgotten what it's like to be able to spend more than 3 minutes eating a meal while also getting to use both hands to eat.

2 of the last 5 things that I’ve ordered from Amazon just never came. Either they didn’t even ship it or it got as far as out for delivery but they just never came to my house to deliver it. It’s wild to see how, as tech has taken over all aspect of life, most things have gotten so much worse.

I’ve been building some things on Cloudflare as a learning exercise for all of their primitives while I’m up late with the baby. Auth provider, log warehouse, analytics storage and querying, asset transform and storage. It’s pretty unbelievable how cheaply you can do all of these things.

I get people who are really into model trains. Like, it’s not for me, but wanting to build an analytics warehouse and oauth service from scratch for funsies is more or less the same thing.

Looking at the Remix 3 demo app, it’s very interesting and I see what they’re going for, and I appreciate it, but it doesn’t quite resonate with me. I think a little bit of magic for the sake of being concise (eg, DOM event bindings) goes a long way.

I’m falling behind on a lot of this but Cloudflare has email services in private beta. I haven’t had a chance to try containers yet but the gap between Cloudflare and AWS is shrinking, and Cloudflare is cheaper and has a MUCH better developer experience.

Just throwing it out there, I like Cloudflare a lot, they are absolutely worth checking out. What you get out of the free tier is generous a what you’re getting for $5/mo in not just bandwidth but feature set is just silly. And the DX is fantastic. And they own the infra, it’s not an AWS wrapper.

The work that the Svelte team is doing is, in my opinion, the most exciting thing in web dev. Not only is what they’re putting out transformative and so, so, so well designed, but they’ll announce some huge new thing coming out “in the future” and a week later, it’s in a patch release.

Super excited to announce the experimental release of asynchronous SSR in Svelte! github.com/sveltejs/sve...

`await` expressions in your Svelte components can now be rendered on the server, meaning you don't need to render them inside boundaries with a `pending` snippet. Next up, streaming SSR!
Async SSR · sveltejs svelte · Discussion #16784
The Svelte team has been hard at work on asynchronous rendering, with client-side support and remote functions as our first two efforts. It’s time for the third: SSR. Background There are three cor...

Ok look I’m clearly going through something where I’ve become obnoxiously sentimental for the early 2000s but I think we can probably agree that most things were just better then?
