Came across a young Piebald Deer bugging an adult who had enough. I normally think a piebald isn't well camouflaged but guess again.

A young deer starts to run as an adult turns to chase it. The piebold has mottled fur. In this case it has a fairly normal looking brown head and neck but then quickly turns to a mostly white critter with varying dark patches of browns and greys.

A large golden brown bird floats in the gentle ripples of the harbour. Eiders have a long dark bill transitioning from very dark to creamy coloured on the tip. Its feathers form a gorgeous pattern of dark and golden brown.

A female Pine Grosbeak has the same dark beak and eye as the male but swaps out the heavy red head and body colour for orange and more grey on the body(than the male).

One grosbeak, wings spread, beak opened, lurches at another,. Not sure if it is attempting to peck at an eye. Two grosbeaks with wings flapping and beaks locked. One grosbeak is pushed back as another flies, trying to get the upper hand, forcing the other to leave.

This Evening Grosbeak appears to be growing quills. Google tells me these are actually pin feathers which will grow into feathers.

Always amazed by the variations in Dark-eyed Juncos. We see mostly very dark slate-coloured but this one is more multi toned grey-brown mix.

A bobcat walks over the ice head lowered like it might be moving in on prey but I think it was just helping him maintain balance on the slippery surface The sunlight reflects off the right side of a bobcat which in turn reflects off the ice surface. The cat's head is turned into the sun perhaps enjoying a little warmth on a very cold winter's day.

A bird who should be in a warm climate found winter. This Painted Bunting, very rare for #NewBrunswick, #Canada is surviving at a home feeder in Bayside, NB. Thanks to the homeowners for taking care of this beauty and putting up with birders coming for a peek.

Common Eider are seabirds so I was surprised to see this one in a large field on the Tantramar Marsh. Seemed grounded by very strong wind. It flew a short distance but was making better progress waddling along. Sackville, #NewBrunswick, #Canada
