Heavy water vapor from the melting snow obscured most of my targets last night

I did get a decent shot of the Orion Nebula (M42) located 1,344 ly away. Visible to the naked eye on a dark night. Region is an active star factory

Another great evening for star gazing. Stuck with the galaxy theme and targeted a couple in the Big Dipper with the Seastar S50. Used the Dwarf 3 to capture a personal favorite in Orion, the Horsehead and Flame Nebulae

The Horsehead (Barnard 33) and Flame Nebulae (NGC 2024) flank blue supergiant Alnitak, the eastern most star in Orion's Belt. The 3 are part of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, in the constellation Orion ~1,300 ly away

Bode's Galaxy (M81) a grand design spiral galaxy 11.7 Mly away in Ursa Major (Big Dipper). M81 is one of the brightest galaxies visible and a companion to the Cigar Galaxy (M82)

This beauty is ~70,000 ly across and contains ~100 billion stars

The Cigar Galaxy (M82) is a starburst galaxy ~12 Mly away in the constellation Ursa Major (Big Dipper). The intense new star formation is likely trigger by gravational interaction with neighboring Bode's Galaxy (M81)

She's a hot mess

Stayed up way too late last night. Sky cleared up after midnight was able to get a couple of galaxy shots on the S50. Set the Dwarf3 to work on some nebulae in the Canis Major, Monoceros and Eridanus

Fun night but dragging this morning

The Seagull Nebula (IC 2177) is a large emission nebula located between the constellations Monoceros and Canis Major, ~3,650 ly away spanning 240 ly

Second shot stars removed

It does look like a seagull in flight

The Witch Head (NGC 1909) is ~900 ly away in Eridanus. The very faint dust particles from a supernova explosion reflect light from nearby blue supergiant Rigel in Orion

Second shot stars removed

Four distant galaxies shine through the cloud

Haley's Coronet ~58 Mly away in the constellation Eridanus. Two galaxies collided wreaking havoc on the small irregular partner

Disrupted streamers of stars run between the two

Andromeda and Milky Way will collide like this in 4.27 billion years

M95 or NGC 3351, is a barred spiral galaxy ~33 Mly away in Leo. This beauty is slightly smaller than our galaxy coming in with 40 billion stars spanning 70,000 ly compared to 400 billion covering 100,000 ly for the Milky Way

I like this galaxy

Trying something new tonight. Moved the telescopes to the south east corner of the yard. Gives me 270° sky access

Still close enough to connect from the sunroom but with a larger field of view. We'll see how it goes tonight

Really windy last night, and the Superbowl was on, but still got a couple of good shots of the Rosette Nebula in Monoceros and the Tadpole Nebula in Auriga before the clouds obscured the everything
