Tonight I went to the historic United Artists Theatre to see the 100th anniversary screening of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. The @laopera played a live score and it was exquisite. I also got to briefly chat with Lon Chaney’s great grandson Ron Chaney.

Actor Peter Lorre starred in numerous horror films throughout his career. He was often typecast due to his looks and dubbed "The Master of Menace". Check out his horror film MAD LOVE. It is perfect viewing for the Halloween season! Lorre is interred in the Cathedral Mausoleum at Hollywood Forever.

I got totally upstaged by a squirrel today during the cemetery tour. 🪦🐿️

Actress Helen Parrish appeared in several horror films including "You'll Find Out" with Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff and Béla Lugosi. Parrish is interred in the Cathedral Mausoleum at Hollywood Forever.

Skelton Knaggs moved to Hollywood where his menacing looks led him to be typecast as the villain. Notable films include “House of Dracula” (1945) with Lon Chaney Jr., “Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome” featuring Boris Karloff and “Terror By Night” (1946). He is buried at Hollywood Forever.

Today we kick things off with the elegant Frances Drake. She co-starred opposite fellow Hollywood Forever resident Peter Lorre in the 1935 horror classic “Mad Love” and appeared with Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi in “The Invisible Ray”(1936).

From now until Halloween I’m going to post about different stars at Hollywood Forever who worked in the horror genre.

I tried the cape again, but I’m pretty sure my demise is imminent.

I got Close-Up to wear a Dracula cape for 2 seconds. I did not sustain any blood loss. It’s a Halloween miracle!
