Between 2013-2023, Home Office data shows that recorded hate crime more than tripled.

This is in no small part due to high profile figures using language that normalises social division, prejudice and hate.

We urge current and future leaders to consider the weight that their statements have.

In the article Sunak's shared regret over his "too binary" and "too stark" statement regarding migrants and asylum seekers.

At CHS, we welcome this recognition. Evidence from across the sector demonstrates the very real impact that such comments can have for already marginalised communities.
