This version of Playing in the Band, of course. 46:32 of joy.

It's weird that Jorma Kaukonen was in the same band as Marty Balin.

Affordability is not our top priority, @petebuttigieg.bsky.social. What concerns us most is the fact that government-sponsored armed thugs are out in our streets terrorizing and murdering people. That's what I want to focus on. We'll take care of the rest later.
Everywhere I go, people are talking about the same thing: the president’s failure to bring down prices and make life in this country more affordable.

I try to remain non-political here, instead focusing on the Grateful Dead and other assorted fun topics.

But sometimes you just gotta say, #FuckICE

Highway Star - Deep Purple
Road to Nowhere - Talking Heads
Wild in the Streets - Garland Jeffreys
6th Avenue Heartache - The Wallflowers
Dirty Blvd - Lou Reed
What’s a great song or album that has HIGHWAY, ROAD, STREET, AVENUE or BOULEVARD in the title?

I can even limit it to one band.
Grateful Dead, 1970s
You can have the music from one decade. Go.

I know it's very bad out there, but every once in a while i have this "holy shit, look what's happening in our very own country" moment and I want to cry.

Anyway, #FuckICE

@democrats.senate.gov
Hold firm and do not cave! ICE is an out of control entity that is terrorizing and executing citizens and non-citizens alike. Tey must be stopped. We don't care what the proce of eggs or gas is. We care about the future of our democracy and country itself.

Sorry, Ali. I'm not going to watch some snuff film so you can goose your ratings.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Been listening to a lot of Bodeans lately. Fantastic Americana music. Check out their live album Joe Dirt Cart. It won't do you wrong.

"They certainly are an acquired taste, especially in recordings of their live shows. Not everyone wants to listen to a 15-minute version of “Eyes of the World” and compare it with an 11-minute version of “Eyes of the World” from 17 years earlier."

My minor brush with fame, Bobby edition.

For reasons that don't matter, I found myself backstage at the Cap Center in Sept '87 for a grand total of five minutes at set break. Bobby was standing across from me wearing his infamous Madonna t-shirt, chatting up a DC philly who was looking good. 1/2
January 15, 2026 at 1:01 PM
I spent 155 nights of my life seeing Bobby up on stage, fronting one ensemble or another. I wouldn't give back a single one of those shows for anything in the world.

May the music never stop.
