If there’s one thing we learned during the #MakePollutersPay Week of Action, it’s that when we show up together, we are unstoppable. Across the state, we saw neighbors, students, and state legislators taking a stand. We aren’t just fighting against Big Oil… We are fighting for each other.

Ventura County closed out the Polluters Pay National Week of Action with a banner drop over the 101 freeway! We joined communities across the country who have been taking similar actions as we build our power to make polluters pay. ✊

Offshore drilling means more spills, toxic air, contaminated water, astronomical cleanup costs, and climate disasters hitting families already on the frontlines. We deserve safe coasts and healthy communities and we CANNOT afford more fossil fuel risk.

This week, by unanimous vote, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution in opposition to any new or expanded offshore oil and gas leasing and deep seabed mining off the Ventura County coastline.

Breaking News! Yesterday morning, the Santa Barbara Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to pass a resolution in support of California’s Polluters Pay Climate Superfund Act (AB1243/SB 684) -- joining over 20 cities and counties across the state who have passed similar resolutions to make polluters pay!

Last week, EPA Adm. Zeldin illegally rushed through a rule that gives a free pass to the oil and gas industry to pollute our air and harm our health.

California leaders and agencies must fill the gap left by this delay rule by implementing strong state public health and climate regulations now!

The Board of Supervisors voted in favor of the Oil & Gas Phase-Out Ordinance, moving the policy to the next phase of implementation planning.
