An Excel spreadsheet that shows the teams eliminated from making the 2025 NHL playoffs, the date of that elimination, the number of games remaining when they were eliminated from making the playoffs, and the draft points using NHL points system applied to their game results after elimination. Under the Gold Plan, not adopted by the NHL, but practice in the PWHL, teams get 'draft points' starting when they get eliminated from potentially making the playoffs. This table is sorted by the Tragic Date, or the date at which the team was mathematically eliminated from making the playoffs. Legend: Column headers are: Conference, Tragic Date, Game number (the number of games the team had played at the time in which they had been eliminated from making the playoffs, GR or games remaining after the tragic date, the total number of draft points, and the final league rankings based strictly on points accumulated in the NHL 24-25 season.

An Excel spreadsheet that shows the teams eliminated from making the 2025 NHL playoffs, the date of that elimination, the number of games remaining when they were eliminated from making the playoffs, and the draft points using NHL points system applied to their game results after elimination. As of this posting on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at ~7AM EST, 8 teams have concluded their 2024-2025 NHL seasons, with 7 teams finishing their seasons tonight. Under the Gold Plan, not adopted by the NHL, but practice in the PWHL, teams get 'draft points' starting when they get eliminated from potentially making the playoffs. This table is sorted by the Tragic Date, or the date at which the team was mathematically eliminated from making the playoffs. Legend: Column headers are: Conference, Tragic Date, Game number (the number of games the team had played at the time in which they had been eliminated from making the playoffs, GR or games remaining after the tragic date, the total number of draft points, and the DP at Game# or the total number of draft points accumulated at the number of games played. The Blackhawks have the most draft points at 12. If this plan were in effect, and if the this was the final standings, and assuming the tie breaker is final overall league standings, the draft order for the top 5 would be: CHI; SJS; SEA; NSH; ANA.

But if it was a Gold plan, the current standings would look like this screenshot below, where the lowest seeded team (currently the San Jose Sharks) are not in a position to earn the 1st overall draft pick.

NOTE: Most teams still have a game to play, with the Detroit Red Wings having 2 remaining.

As of this posting on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at ~9AM EST, only 4 teams in this list have concluded their season: Chicago Blackhawks, Seattle Kraken, Boston Bruins and Utah HC, with 12, 7, 4 and 4 draft points, respectively.

I enjoyed it, on the whole. It starts a little slow, but quickly escalates. 'Quest-based' but not burdensome. Some spots where I was looking for something to complete the task and either misread or misunderstood the ask, but that's gaming in general. Overall, solid.
