Sammy Baloji's present work, 'Shinkolobwe’s Abstraction' (with Pedro Monaville), links the Belgian uranium extraction in Katanga to the 1945 US nuclear bombing of Hiroshima. The introductory text was written by Oliver Fuke for a recent exhibition at Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art (2024).

Media is straight up refusing to cover any of the protests, and actively misreporting the basics of the law-breaking across the administration. Normal people who just casually pass by a few minutes of CNN in a week haven't heard *anything* about the worst attack on government since the Civil War.

These numbers suggest the media is failing to explain what's actually happening to the public.

Does anyone have the original paper that the "80% of words biodiversity is protected by Indigenous people" statement comes from? This is the paper that describes how that is wrong... I'm looking for the *original* paper that everyone was pulling the stat comes from.

No basis for claim that 80% of biodiversity is found in Indigenous territories
A much-cited statistic about how much of the world’s biodiversity is under Indigenous stewardship is unsupported — and could harm the cause it is meant to support.

All this talk about snitching, but consider how content creation, seeking engagement, and speculating on social media can function as independent investigations (intentionally or not) and aid the police narratively, materially, or otherwise.
