You just have to look south to see an economy that was partially built on defence spending. Along with Europe, I know we can do it. There's a reason our national symbol is the beaver.

Regarding technology, look at AI raising billions to develop technology that can readily be developed at a fraction of the cost. I've worked in IT and know how project budgets can get blotted just because there are deep pockets.

I would also like to say the reason the US spends so much money funding their Military Industrial Complex is the bloated military budget and the companies ready and willing to pick that purse.
