A game I quite enjoy called Dystopika just expanded their mod support... soooo guess I gotta learn the modkit in order to add my most dystopian instrumental tracks to the game ^_^

I'll post a steam link once I have it all figured out.

I've found with this site that judicious use of the muted words feature under Settings>Moderation helps immensely.

Adding frequently seen team names, player names, etc will clean up your feed pretty quick. Works great for political annoyances as well.

Sadly, all we can really do is try to keep places like this alive. It blows my mind just how many "i'll never touch twitter again" type people are right back on twitter and paying a monthly fee for the a checkmark to get their engagement dopamine hit.

No doubt, I mostly meant the kind of folks who've only experienced the culture through anime. I work with some musicians there and have always found it a pleasant country, but folks gotta know the social rules going in. I'm afraid a lot of the younger visitors don't bother to learn.

Even as recently as a decade ago, you would still find venues with "No Gaijin!" signs at the entrance.

A whole lot of western folks are about to discover that Japan has always enjoyed being a socially conservative ethnostate.

it took me a bit to get into his style as well, I usually recommend his short story 'Beyond the Aquila Rift' just because it's his most accessible and is really haunting. 'Pushing Ice' is also a decent standalone.

The Revelation Space series is good, but yeah it takes a bit to get interesting.

Good read. Have you gotten into the work of Alastair Reynolds at all? His work is quite lovely too.

I'm not actually a nihilist either, which is what makes it an interesting quandary. My real life is pretty wholesome and chill in comparison to some of the stuff I write.

So I'm not really down on it, I'm most just asking myself "Is this the message I really feel like sending right now?"

Oh the creative urge is still very much present, I've recorded a lot this year, It's more of an issue of presentation.

I'm trying to decide if some of the works I've assembled are a bit too nihilistic for the current moment.

But they will all eventually see release.

Maybe it's just time to write music about outer space or something, the cold vast darkness can't be any worse than the surface of Earth these days, right?

The problem is, my music has had 'dystopian warning' vibes for literal decades now and it turns out humanity considered all the red flags and societal retrogression an ideal future...

I'm not going anywhere, but I don't really feel like admonishing a species that seems to love it's own end.

I could be one of those super prolific artists if I just released every creation that popped into my head during a session, but as a lyricist I'm highly compelled to say something worth communicating with each release... even if the end listener just doesn't bother trying to understand.

I have something new coming in October, but not for Bandcamp Friday.

I'm still deciding what exactly I want to say with this next release, I'm sitting on a mountain of summer recordings ranging from highly structured Industrial Rock to something random bordering on Power Electronics.

Someone has a vested interest in keeping you outraged. They gleefully benefit from your nearly obsessive regurgitation of their chosen conflict.

And despite being fully aware of the leash by which you are restrained, you just can't help yourself...

Because you're so well trained.

I know this feeling far too well. 🖤

Well done. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned for episode 200 😜

When a system begins to fail due to corruption, the first step is to turn it off, let the fans spin down and the capacitors discharge, then try turning it back on.

If the system is unrecoverable, consider a full reformat or component replacement to resume normal operation.

Works for nations too.

That's a splendid idea, it has been a couple decades since I last saw that.

I've been revisiting and probably escaping into a lot of early cyberpunk literature lately. Sometimes dark, dystopian, tech-noir stories give me more hope for the future of human progress than the real world does.

My track 'Aleph' appears on this compilation from last year. The whole thing is worth a listen if you're into music inspired by the works of William Gibson.
