I run ChargeBlog, a wargaming blog I've been writing since 2014. The blog updates at least once a week, and with plenty of back catalog to browse through.

Big WW2 game on the weekend so of course I waited for the last minute to get my Paras painted. Two sections down, at least another one and officers to go. However, we're going to need some support options...

It's a little late (blame a last-minute date with Dagger Directive's OICW), but this week's edition of The News Stand is short and sweet. Luckily, short doesn't mean lacking in content - and this week we have releases, previews and more. Find out more on ChargeBlog!

Time for a new post on the blog covering my first trip into a different way of playing the BattleTech universe - Alpha Strike! Big stompy mechs, cool terrain and a complete lack of computers to run the game.

Time for the traditional New Year's Gaming with the regular opponent. And this year, it's Alpha Strike (so yes, time for a new All Systems Nominal post).

Eurrrrrrrgggghhhh

It's a cool model. I'd like to buy cool model. But as a piece that's going to be painted and sit on my shelf, that's a lot of money for a single guy. And I feel like this keeps happening with GW.

Written while watching a Warhammer Community Preview, this week's edition of The News Stand is packed full of previews, news and more - definitely a theme of high-end operators and urban warfare! Read on for more, only on ChargeBlog!

New Year, New Time slot and plenty of things to cover! There were quite a few releases during my holiday/SPOTREP writing break, so we'll get caught up on that and see what has come out since we flipped the calendar.

Grab it, as always, only on ChargeBlog!

It's my Birthday AND the start of a new year, meaning it's the perfect time to wax lyrical about how 2025 went and what the plan for 2026 is.

It's mostly play more wargames and write about them, I'm not sure what people were expecting...

Right hobby time from earlier with the guys - that's all my Empress Airborne done, now to get them painted up before February!
January 6, 2026 at 1:07 AM
It's time to go back - I've spent too long in the Underhive and the Old World. It's time to return to where all wargamers return to.

Normandy 1944.

In other words, let's see what the new version of Chain of Command is all about! Post out now on ChargeBlog.

A big old 3D printing day, a mixture of printing new models (some MTLBs from Bobmack), tidying up old models (the M113s from Bobmack) and assembling two large boys (the Cougar MRAPs from Modern Miniatures). Not pictured are some alternative turrets I kitbashed for the M113s (currently printing).

It's game time with the Creative and Dastardly opponents. Time to get Chain of Command V2 out!
December 28, 2025 at 2:00 PM
Time for some wrestling - ROH and AEW in Manchester.

Never thought I'd be so happy to see a pile of MTP.

I really wish that they hadn't locked two of the British skins behind the REDSEC modes (and the other two behind small modes) but finally got them.

Time for the final edition of The News Stand for 2025 as the Christmas season begins. That doesn't mean that this edition is anything less than usual - there are plenty of previews and upcoming releases to get the Ultramodern wargamer excited. Even some stompy robots! Find out more on ChargeBlog.
December 11, 2025 at 12:21 AM
Black Friday is done, December is here, which means only one thing - there are only three more editions of The News Stand before Christmas! Read on for this week's updates - and yep, that's a lot of Patreon updates. Only on ChargeBlog!

Time for my first 2000 game against Empire.
November 23, 2025 at 11:21 AM
New week, new edition of The News Stand. I managed to peel myself away from rounds of Breakthrough in Battlefield 6 to grab this week's collection of previews, Kickstarter updates and more from all corners of the Ultramodern Wargaming World. Read on for more!, only on ChargeBlog.

Today is Remembrance Day. It can feel strange writing about wargaming on such a day, but that doesn't stop the fact that wargaming is one of the ways to understand the sacrifices of the past. This week's edition of the News Stand covers a wide variety of the usual folks, over on ChargeBlog.
November 11, 2025 at 10:59 PM
Partner Forces, Combat Octopus's ranges, and even painting up a few figures? Welcome back to Ultramoderns, available on ChargeBlog!
November 10, 2025 at 10:23 PM
We're into November, the weather is getting increasingly grim. Tis' the season to break out the paints, settle down in a comfortable chair and focus on painting up all those figures. Or, slightly easier, sitting down with this week's edition of The News Stand, available now on ChargeBlog!
