So after some kind soul felt it would be wise to bash my car with theirs and drive off without leaving a note the other week.
I'm now having the front bumper repaired.

I'll post the after later today when the chap has finished.

Keeping this short and sweet. At the end of February my wife will be sleeping rough at Leeds Station as part of an organised event to raise money for The Railway Children charity. Anyone fancy sponsoring her?

I am currently working towards my Queens Guide award (the highest award in Girlguiding). As part of this I need to complete a community challenge. For this challenge I am supporting Railway Children b

Today @lner.co.uk has named a train to mark Railway 200.

It’s called “Darlington” - the home of the modern railway and location of the S&DR200 Festival.

801207 '𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻' - 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟬.

The latest LNER livery, completed to recognise the 200th Anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. The orange really works with the red and its nice to see my home town recognised.

Out and about specifically to get a photo of a specific unit. This is what railway photography looks like when it goes pete tong.

This mainline now blocked about 2 miles south of where I am for the past 60 mins. Nothing is moving.

Quietly hoping nothing gets cancelled and ruins my shots.

Not a bad start to 2025 so far.

47 services worked, on average only 1 minute delay per service.

In reality those 47 minutes were split over 7 services with the other 40 being on time.

Fellow Drivers and Signallers, a conundrum for you.

Can a signaller call you unexpectedly on the GSM-R, causing you to stop out of course, just so they can get permission from you class 2 to revert a signal ahead of you to let a late running class 1 ahead of you, causing you a delay?

Fun day today, having to use the dreaded 2-2 bell code, fortunately not due to any error of mine, but due to an ill timed unit fault occurring for the 4th time that day.

It was in that moment that Charlie knew, the unit needed to be failed.

With the severe snow the Midlands and North of England has been suffering today i thought I would share this throwback to 10th Jan 2021.
I had planned to go and do some photography today but given its the first winter where I've had a rear wheel drive car I thought it best to stay local.

Whose got snow then?
I'm in the amber warning but not had a flake of the stuff yet.

So, when I first joined bluesky I was posting regular pictures but life's been busy.

So, to help me pick, choose any month between January 2020 and December 2024 and I'll see what's in my archive and share.

Sometimes this job can be very repetitive, then other weeks much more varied.
Week leading up to Christmas I barely got off my core route, with 35 out of 39 trips on there.
This week,
This week, 21 trips, only 8 on core route. Much more enjoyable and a change of scenery.

Hey mate. Any chance of an additional filter on Railmiles so it's possible to filter data from Crew, Business, Personal etc.

En-route to my train for the day.
I don't get to see the red ones often. First time in 6½ weeks that I've driven this route and it's express!
January 2, 2025 at 7:30 AM
1,110 Journeys
Nearly 5 continous weeks behind the controls.
1½ days of total delays
24½ thousand miles driven.

Based on a station call every 8 minutes that's also 6,262 station calls made. A busy year!

First time today I had to cross over an locally monitored level crossing where the crossing completely failed to operate. No lights, no barriers, nothing.
Luckily I was in passenger service, it was a quiet road at 0730 in the morning!
Definitely woke the Dale up with the horn though!

Today's 5Z90 and 5Z91, with 91127 being the first of its class to run North of York in over 3 years.

Here we see the wonderful LNER Intercity225 livery against the striking Darlington Station.

It's a shame so many new stanchions have appeared with the station remodel but still a striking few shots

Now this is a throwback, excuse the photo quality as its back from when I first started on a mobile phone.

43308 HST departs Darlington platform 1 on a service to Kings Cross whilst 801217 sits on the goods loop on a positioning move.
06th December 2019.

Is it just me or have companies made it harder and harder to raise formal complaints.

Sainsburys logged mine from last year as 'feedback' and not response would follow. Just trying to complain to Hive about service and all they list is phone or WhatsApp. The W.A. being the British Gas one...

Well that is me done with work until the 19th December. Here's to just shy of 2 weeks away from the rails.

Today's picture comes from Middlesbrough HST sidings around lunchtime. 153385 sits in the sidings having completed its days duties.

Probably one of the few days I've had where I've managed to get every service I was booked to drive to it's destination on time.

This is one of my all time favourite shots in my collection. A tricky location to get to but quite rewarding, especially with the golden sun behind me giving a wonderful glow.
December 1, 2024 at 10:15 PM
It's that time of year again where the rule book updates appear. Nothing too significant this time it would seem but using this time I have due to a cancelled train to bring myself up to speed.

Throwback to the Christmas period in December 2022 when the North side of York Station was blocked leading to diversions via the York Avoider/York Goods Yards.
