Some great fossil finds coming in today! Clearly the rough weather has done some good to the beaches with plenty of fool's gold ammonites about and even a beautiful set of 3 articulated ichthyosaur vertebra!

It's been a year of new displays to come and see in the Centre and they've not stopped yet! This exceptionally preserved ichthyosaur found by Chris Moore has just been put on display. It's covered in fossil skin so detailed we can even see the shape of its paddles! #FossilFriday

You can tell it's December with a freezing cold start like today's. It does mean you get some pretty spectacular views as the sea mist rolls on the waves though so it's definitely worth coming down for!

We had our second winter lecture last night amongst the stormy weather outside! Andy Littler spoke about economic geology and brought along samples of minerals he had found during his career! Our next lecture is in January, watch this space for updates!

Well done to the 30 people who braved the wet and wild weather on our fossil walk today. 3 ichthyosaur bones were found and HollyandtheHerd found this tiny crinoid star tucked in the end of a belemnite! #FossilFind

Shout out to Akbar who found this rare piece of fossil chimaera tooth plate on last weekends's fossil walk! Chimeras are shark-like fish, with teeth designed for crushing and grinding their shelly prey. #FossilFriday
