⚓️ Charles Booth, the shipowner and social reformer, died on this day in 1916.

📕 Booth lived in Grace Dieu Manor, Thringstone for the last 30 years of his life, and is best known for his book 'Life and Labour of the People in London'.

📅 Thomas Babington, politician and philanthropist, died on this day in 1837.

🏛️ Born in Charnwood Forest, and resident of Rothley Temple, Babington is most well known for his campaigns to abolish slavery.

🌧 On Friday, Storm Claudia brought large amounts of rain to Charnwood Forest.

☔ Mount St Bernard Abbey was one of the rainiest places in the country with 96 mm in the 24 hrs from 7am Friday.

⚠️ The Met Office have issued an Amber warning for rain, covering most of Charnwood Forest.

⏰ The Amber warning runs from 12:00-23:59 Friday. This is in addition to the Yellow Warning from 06:00 Friday - 06:00 Saturday.

🥳 NEW FOSSIL! Researchers from Canada have named a new species of fossil from the 560 million year old rocks of Charnwood Forest!

🌟 Its called Charnia brasieri, shaped like a frond, and could grow to a metre long.
