🌍 This week, our Geoheritage Officer has been presenting our work on geoconservation at ProGEO - the International Association for the Conservation of Geological Heritage.

💸 Our Geopark hosted the ProGEO conference in 2023, bringing a boost of c.£100,000 to the local economy.

🍄 Fungi, including mushrooms, are an important part of the ecosystems in Charnwood Forest.

🚫 It is an offence to pick mushrooms within many of the Geopark's protected natural sites - including Beacon Hill, Bradgate Park, and The Outwoods.

🇯🇵 As part of our collaboration with De Montfort University, we'll be receiving a report from two students who recently visited the Itoigawa UNESCO Global Geopark in Japan - this will help to shape our own upcoming UNESCO application.

💎 Frank was a celebrated expert on the minerals of Charnwood Forest, and supported us to promote our mineralogical geosites.

The reconstruction we use was made independently in close cooperation with Dr Dunn - lead author on the paper. We use this as it is part of a whole-community image and 3D model we use - so that all our fossil reconstructions are in the same style.

We of course salute the great work of Kendall!
