My name is TJ, I run Chasing The Wolves, a mid distance sled dog kennel located in the Iron Range of Minnesota. We have primarily Alaskan Huskies, but a few mixes and retired Siberians as well!

I am in the final prepping stages for Midnight Run, our first checkpoint race!
I’m still working out who will run where, but we will have a few guest dogs on the team, as Tikan couldn’t work out the mileage, and Finn and Marci are out for some minor injuries.
I can’t wait to be on the trail!

Yesterday we raced the Northern Pines sled dog race. It was also Zelda’s birthday and my first race since Naya passed. They both showed up bright and early with a gorgeous sunrise. The race was fantastic. We placed 13 out of 16, faster than I expected! The dogs looked great!

Beargrease 40 2026 is a wrap!
We placed last, red lantern. I am not surprised due to our lack of hill training, but the dogs finished, and finished looking strong! We were slow but that’s alright. I can’t wait til next year, and I can’t wait for our next race at Northern Pines!

Today’s run started out grand- the first 20 miles were beautiful. We branched off a new trail, the dogs were loving it!
On our way back however, Finn took a mis-step over a bridge and tweaked his shoulder. He will be on house rest for the time being. I’m bummed, but know he’ll bounce back!

The warm weather has created a lot of fog and moisture in the air. Not great for running dogs or keeping trails. But it sure does make the trees look pretty!

Huge running series for new years with @chasingthewolves.bsky.social ! We did a sled run New Years Day - after dumping the sled and losing the team last sled run, I was extremely anxious and only wanted to take 4 out of my yard over the tricky spot.

BMO is Marci’s brother. He is a stinky, noisy boy, who loves shoving his nose where it doesn’t go. He loves playing the game of peeing on everyone.
He is a great worker and loves everyone so he sticks around.

Dovah is a binch. I blame it on her mix. Alaskan Husky, Siberian, Malamute, GSD, and a dash of wolf.
Despite this, she is a great sled dog. Very driven and focused. She loves boys though. And not children. No off leash- that’s a story time.
