Have any EPA staff NOT been notified they're exempted or excluded from furlough? I'd love to hear from you! on Signal at jchemnick.01.

The DOE climate report creates a lot of problems for EPA's endangerment finding for greenhouse gases. It will be interesting to see if EPA uses it in the final, or if decides to just double down on legal arguments:

DOE climate report could create problems for EPA
The agency may need to ditch its scientific justification for repealing the endangerment finding that underpins most climate rules.

Trump's UN speech was one of his most unfiltered and extended climate denial riffs ever, full of falsehoods, lies and distortions.

“I’m really good at predicting things...I don’t say that in a braggadocios way, but it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.”

‘Con,’ ‘scam,’ ‘hoax’: Trump’s UN speech on climate
The president used a large chunk of his speech to world leaders to condemn climate science and clean energy policies.

EPA is moving fast to finalize its repeal of the 2009 endangerment finding for greenhouse gases and tailpipe emissions rules. Internal notes and slides show options for the final rule will be selected this week and next. Public comment closed Monday.

The oil and gas industry didn't expect EPA to suspend its greenhouse gas reporting, and for the most part it doesn't see it doing the sector any favors. I focus mostly on challenges it could create for gas exports to the E.U., but there are other issues. www.eenews.net/articles/epa...
EPA proposal puts US gas exporters in a bind
The bid to halt greenhouse gas reporting could cause problems for petroleum companies — especially those hoping to sell gas to the EU.

The Trump administration's climate science report is riddled with cherry-picked data, sweeping claims easily contradicted by a vast body of research and long-debunked climate denial tropes. @chelseaeharvey.bsky.social and I fact-check some claims here: www.eenews.net/articles/epa...
EPA attacks climate science. Here are the facts.
The Trump administration's proposal to roll back the endangerment finding includes many misleading and inaccurate claims.

So, anybody know who might be live streaming #EPA's endangerment finding announcement at 2 ET? Because the agency isn't going to do it, even though #Zeldin called it the "the largest deregulatory action in the history of America" this morning on the Ruthless podcast.

EPA will move tomorrow to revoke the endangerment finding, the foundation for all US climate regulations, and emissions limits for cars and trucks.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin will make the announcement in Indiana.

Could EPA rely too much on the endangerment finding gambit and end up with the Biden rules back in force?
chemnick.bsky.social
The Trump administration's proposal on the endangerment finding is coming -- possibly tomorrow. I'd love to talk to anyone with intel about how OIRA (and EPA) are going to try and do this. I'm on Signal at jchemnick.01.

EPA's latest reorg moved oversight of the IRA "green banks" program out of the air pollution office and into a new "Office of Finance and Administration." The program's former career director, who had been placed on administrative leave, is at WRI: www.eenews.net/articles/epa...
EPA shuffles major climate program office
The office created under President Joe Biden to run the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund has been turned into an oversight arm.

We're hearing that the Trump administration's repeal of EPA carbon curbs for the power sector will probably come out Wednesday, along with the MATs rule rollback. Anyone out there know exactly what's in it?

I don't think anyone outside of universities, pharma and biotech, independent research institutions have any idea of what is happening right now. If you haven't sounded the alarm among your friends, family and colleagues, now is the time to do it.
quote on a dark blue and purple background from Sudip S. Parikh, CEO of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), criticizing proposed cuts to science funding in the FY26 U.S. federal budget. The quote reads:

“If enacted, the FY26 budget request would end America’s global scientific leadership. The cuts to science would imperil our nation’s future health, security and prosperity. This budget proposal stands in stark contrast to the President’s call for a renewed commitment to American scientific leadership. Congress has demonstrated a bipartisan commitment to investment in research and must do so again to answer the President’s call.”
The quote is attributed to Sudip S. Parikh, CEO of AAAS and Executive Publisher of the Science family of journals. The AAAS logo appears at the bottom right.

We'll see how EPA threads the needle on the power sector's "finding of significant contribution" next month, when it proposes its repeal of Biden-era power regs. Here's my piece about some of the legal challenges it will face: www.eenews.net/articles/ins...
Inside EPA’s backdoor bid to stop regulating climate pollution
The agency’s expected justification for overturning the power plant rule could also absolve it from regulating other industries’ planet-warming

EPA seems poised to use (at least) two separate strategies to tackle GHG endangerment: taking on the 2009 finding itself, and trying to argue that power plant emissions aren't a "significant" contributor to public endangerment.

I'd love to connect with current or former EPA staff on climate policy: endangerment finding, power plant carbon rule, grants, etc. I'm on Signal at jchemnick.01
