But here’s where it falls short:

⚠️ Member States have until 2039 (with possible extensions to 2045) to comply

⚠️ Only 25 PFAS total are now included on the list, not the 100+ recommended by scientists

⚠️ No strong framework to make polluters pay

⚠️ Chemical mixtures are still being largely ignored

Here’s the good news:

✅ New hazardous substances were added to the list of water pollutants, including TFA, Bisphenol A, certain pesticides and some pharmaceuticals

✅ Mandatory testing will begin for the effects of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs)

☠️ The demand came from an industry group using ADCA, a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) known to cause very serious health effects.

🧐 The industry group challenged the fact that one of the Marketplace ads stated how nasty ADCA is and sent in their law firm to have us change the wording

🇺🇸 American chemical giants Chemours, DuPont and Corteva have agreed to pay $875 million to the state of New Jersey to settle environmental claims, including #PFAS pollution.

💬 New Jersey officials have called it the largest environmental settlement ever achieved by a single state.
