While the construction of Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center is complete, the hospital is still not 100% operational.

Outpatient services like OB & family clinics and speciality services were promised and has been delayed. My Committee’s oversight continues:

Dept of Education new proposed rules on what’s considered a “professional” degree removed nearly all post-baccalaureate nursing programs. This will limit access to student aid.

House Dems should be focused on this — DoD trying to normalize troops on American streets — not trying to reinstate a cash bail policy in DC that hasn’t been in effect for 3 decades.
The Alaska National Guard has responded to public concerns around a rapid response unit trained for "civil disturbance operations:" 100 service members will be trained "to support civil authorities."

At the request of Gov. Dunleavy, they will deploy to Washington D.C. in March 2026.

Democrats in Congress: Hold the line.

Do not back these bills that jeopardize DC’s right to govern itself.

DC is a testing ground for tactics that MAGA will try across the country.

Vote NO, and focus on helping struggling families afford health care.
This week the House is set to vote on two bills targeting D.C.'s criminal justice laws. One would repeal a 2020 city law that imposed new training, discipline, and disclosure standards on police. The other would bring cash bail back to D.C. 30 years after it was eliminated.
We stand united against all 13 anti–DC Home Rule bills in Congress.

DC is home to more than 700,000 residents who pay taxes, run businesses, and serve in the military. Like all Americans, we deserve the right to set our own local laws.

Congress should reject this unprecedented federal overreach.

The use of GLP-1s for unapproved purposes is surging. Use for substance use disorder is one I hadn’t heard yet.

The possibilities & effects of GLP-1s are ripe for research and clinical trials right now.
For Susan Akin, Zepbound helps her endure a world full of triggers. She can visit a gas station without wanting to buy beer or see sugar without dialing a cocaine dealer.

But scientists caution that the research remains nascent.
The surprising new use for GLP-1s: Alcohol and drug addiction
Some doctors are prescribing weight-loss drugs such as Zepbound and Ozempic to help reduce cravings for illicit drugs and alcohol. But research on the benefits is limited.

This week was jammed packed & I’m so thrilled I got to end it with officiating my first wedding today!

DC issued more than 600 marriage licenses during the federal government shutdown thanks to my LOVE Emergency Amdt Act.

Congratulations to all the happy couples!

Why the ACA subsidies matter for DC:

➡️ Over 4300 individuals & small biz have lower premiums due to this tax credit

➡️ They saved on avg $741/month (nearly $9K/yr)

➡️ It’s estimated that ACA enrollees will see out-of-pocket premiums increase by 114% without the tax credits

Help me with this logic — we’ve given them everything so now they definitely will come talk to us about the thing they already said they definitely won’t vote for??

Senator, respectfully, y’all look crazy.
Hassan: With the government reopening shortly, Republicans now finally have to come to the table. Or make no mistake, Americans will remember who stood in the way.

Without significant wrangling, this is the same group who would’ve voted Aye 48hrs into the shutdown.

I’m surprised they last nearly 40 days.

But to go this long and get absolutely nothing concrete on the one thing you messaged this shutdown around — healthcare — is wild to me.
Dems who voted with GOP on ending shutdown:
DURBIN
SHAHEEN
HASSAN
FETTERMAN
ROSEN
CORTEZ MASTO
KAINE

And KING (I)

I need to emphasize what I say down-thread: this is a temporary, procedural move known as an administrative stay issued in haste by Justice Jackson.

Little to nothing should be read into this ruling for how SCOTUS might ultimately rule on SNAP—either way.
BREAKING: the Supreme Court has granted Trump administration’s request.
So the justices will weigh the irreparable harm to the government of having to transfer the funds against the irreparable harm of tens of millions of people not eating
