My ceremony has begun….

Today we will feast. We will warmly welcome family. Family we were born into and family we choose. We will make a spirit plate and invite those who’ve travelled on to come join us.

Opened my curtains to let the light in…I have a home.

Opened the fridge to start my feast prep…we have food.

Began peeling my potatoes. And smiled that my Mom is still a part of every family gathering…as it’s her pot that I cook from on days like this. We miss her but she’s still here…7/

Saw my hubby next to me.
My darling pupper jumping all over the place!
I have sight.
I have a family that loves me.

Moms knew it would make Dad strong for the hunt or whatever task he had in his day to provide for his family. So you see that dish wasn’t just a dish. That process and meal is a ceremony. 5/

The story is that a long time ago…everything we did was a ceremony.

Making a meal is a ceremony.
The cook puts the best thought, heart and process into the meal.
There’s a reason we often are heard to say “My Mom/Dad makes the best ____” 2/

I see my partner next to me…second gift. I am loved, connected and not alone.

I stretch…third gift. I have movement.

We rise and break our fast…third gift. We have a home and food.
