LOL! When we saw a bike parked in front of the Inside Publications office the other day, we thought publisher Ron Roenigk, the self-described "King of the NIMBYs," had turned over a new leaf. Such was not the case! We may respond to this new anti-Wood Greenway screed he ran soon.

The good folks at @atalliance.bsky.social just shared a story about how a free bikes program in Detroit is helping to level the playing field.

"Some research and anecdotal evidence in other parts of the country suggest bicycles alone may reduce chronic absenteeism. Those who support the idea say using bikes to get to school gives more students access to transportation they otherwise wouldn’t have, can improve their health and well-being."
These Detroit students say free bikes helped address some systemic issues that cause chronic absenteeism
The Detroit school district is considering giving bikes to chronically absent students in other schools.
