But the reality is, my cholesterol and blood sugar are high. My stamina is trash. I look in the mirror and see a representation of how unhealthy I feel. So then all these body image wishes and goals become "I want to play with my nieces" or "I want to fuck my husband without running out of breath"

It's so hard to drown out the noise and stick to what I feel like I know to be true about myself. Those other voices make it so much easier to excuse myself from the gym or to eat that sweet treat instead of the protein shake.

Body image is a mf. On one hand, you know what you want to look/feel like and work toward. On the other hand, you've got people saying "you're beautiful just as you are!" based on their idea of beauty.

(1) No one said I didn't think I was beautiful and (2) I'm the one who lives in this body.
