Stories about the Greatest City in the World. Listen wherever you enjoy podcasts.
I finally started watching "The Last Frontier" on Apple TV, and I like to think Jason Clarke's character from the canceled-too-soon "Chicago Code" just moved to Alaska and started over. Delroy Lindo? Jennifer Beals? Christian Stolte? "Chicago Code" had it all.

"In Trump’s first term, Hegseth lobbied the president to grant clemency to Eddie Gallagher, a Navy SEAL who had stabbed and killed an injured 17-year-old Iraqi." What are we even doing here?

Michael A. Cohen: The only thing surprising about this latest black eye for Hegseth’s tenure is that it took this long for such atrocities to happen.

Cally me nutty, but it doesn't feel like we're making progress as a society. The word "progress" is likely a trigger word as well.
School officials have created a Microsoft Copilot prompt to review course descriptions with an eye toward avoiding “advocacy-oriented or prescriptive terms.”

Trigger words include decolonizing, justice oriented, and centering. https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/texas-state-ai-woke-courses/

The problem with @robertloerzel.bsky.social doing this for Waits is I now want him to do this same for other notables like David Bowie, who in addition to performing as a musician here many times also spent a month playing the lead role in “The Elephant Man” at the Blackstone Theatre in 1980.
But wait — there's more! I took a deep dive into "The Chicago Stomping Grounds of Tom Waits" with this new blog post:

Hearing these guys talking about how they’re protecting women, worries the hell out of me…
RFK Jr: "Two weeks ago we ended, under your leadership, a twenty year war on women".

Three out of five men in this shot have been accused of sexual misconduct, harassment or abusive behaviour towards women. A fourth signed into law a near-total abortion ban in his state as governor.

Major media hate to say Trump “lied.” Here's a thread on what they say instead.
Trump is “inverting the facts” (NYT) …
Because he has a “complicated relationship with the truth” (NBC) …
With a “mix of bullish optimism and hyperbole” (Reuters) …
And is “a master of the art of exaggeration” (AP) …

I still say "record store" but even WXRT's Johnny Mars just called it a "vinyl shop." Now I feel out of touch with the hip lingo.
