Having the opportunity to learn in your mother tongue is fundamental to education. Hanifi is not only accelerating learning, but being able to read and write in their own language is giving the children a tremendous sense of pride.

Students in Bangladesh have been busy this week, sitting their exams. Programme Manager Sudeb Rudra told us that the children are focused and have been working hard. He said "The students’ keen eyes and focused attention inspire us greatly". Good luck to all our students taking their exams! 💫

Eight years later, there is still no option of safe return and millions of Rohingya refugee families remain confined in the camps. Children like Afika are still hoping that one day they will be able to return to their homeland. Read her story: buff.ly/ECZqoIs

Afika and her family fled from their home Myanmar after a local militia attacked their village. The family escaped to seek safety in Bangladesh.

Today marks eight years since the Rohingya genocide. In August 2017, millions of Rohingya people were forced to flee from their homes in Myanmar to escape persecution by the military. Many crossed the border into Bangladesh, settling in Kutupalong - which remains the world’s largest refugee camp.
