Stayed late at school tonight to watch some of my students play basketball. Still wanted to make SOMETHING tonight, so I pieced a couple more of my disappearing 9-blocks in rainbow colors before bed. This makes a total of 13 done so far.

#quilting Not vastly different from yesterday's post, but it is now finished! Hoping to go back to skipping from project to project tomorrow.

#quilting I had nothing on my agenda today, so I decided to try to get this quilt top done. There's one more border around the outside still. I was going to quit earlier, but was nervous about how the colorful border was going to go together. Now I can relax. 😀

#quilting Took a mental health day today, and I'm feeling much more centered. Spent some time making 8 more dresses. Hoping to get the center of this quilt sashed this weekend before starting on the border.

#quilting Tonight I multitasked during a weekly zoom call with my mom & her sister (I am more facilitator than participant), and I managed to make these 3 simple blocks. I'm excited to use up some of my Xmas stash. This will be a cute quilt someday.

#quilting Virtual again today. Continued isolation on top of it being the 2nd anniversary of losing my dad made it a rough day, but I have good friends who reached out and invited me over to visit. I'm in a much better headspace now. Still wanted to make something cute, so I settled for 2 dresses.

#quilting Virtual again today. My anxiety is triggered by isolation & political unrest, so I'm continuing to occupy myself by starting more projects... The books are VERY scrap friendly, & I cut a ton of white strips from my scraps. The pointy star is new to me. I can't wait to try it in 5 colors.

#quilting Isolated & snowed in, so I pre-cut blocks for future sewing. Decided to break up the presents with some simple Christmas trees. Also made a new yeti in Monsters Inc PJs. If I was batch sewing the yetis, I don't think I would take the time to appreciate how cute each one is.

#quilting Today is another sad day for our country. Instead of spiraling, I focused on making this donation baby quilt. The woodland pieces were in a bag of offcuts I bought this summer. I recently saw a tutorial for the pictured block, and I am definitely adding it to my arsenal.

#quilting We were virtual today, so after I was done teaching, I spent the rest of the day warm in my sewing room cutting fabric. My goal to keep it interesting, use scraps, and work on multiple project simultaneously can be overwhelming, so I cut 40+ blocks for 5 projects. Here are 3 new presents.

#quilting It was a bit of a frustrating evening, but I focused my frustration and made this little yellow house. I'm trying to change up little details so the houses are all a little different. I think it will make a cute final project, whether it be a wall hanging or a quilt.

#quilting I was low on energy & focus tonight, but still wanted to sew something, so I tried out a small paper pieced pattern that I picked up after christmas. I don't know what I'll do with it, but it's cute.

#quilting After an exhausting long weekend out of town for a family event, I'm finally home and able to sew again. It really felt good to relax and make something cute.

#quilting Due to LE snow, we had a delay and went virtual, so I snuck in a couple more blocks for my rainbow quilt. I think it is looking good.

#quilting Today is my mother's 90th birthday, so I'm going to be short on time the rest of the week getting ready for her open house. Kept it simple and made 2 more disappearing 9 blocks for my rainbow quilt.

#quilting I think this guy is my favorite so far! I'm not even a cat person, and I think it's adorable. It's nice to bounce back and forth between different projects.

#quilting Tonight I attended a meeting of a local quilting group. It was fun to talk shop and share ideas with other quilters IRL. I have some school work to do, so I just did a quick addition to my collection of disappearing 9-blocks. I'm hoping to turn this into A full sized rainbow quilt!

#quilting I precut pieces for several projects yesterday, so I'm going to maintain a goal of 4+ blocks a week (from any of the six projects I've started already this year). I know some weeks I will be manic and sew non-stop, and some weeks I won't feel it, but I think 4 is doable. Today's yeti!

#quilting I am going to keep working on my quilting projects as long as they bring me joy. When I sew the final seam, I get excited knowing that when I press the last time and turn it over, it will be done & be cute.

OFMD has brought a lot of amazing people into my life. However, if we are talking a single memory that stands out, it would have to be Con holding up the bag I'd given him in Chicago the year before during the panel at London MCM, and then him wearing it the ENTIRE weekend. It was surreal.

#quilting Tonight I played around with a new disappearing 9-block pattern that I saw this afternoon. Most of these pieces are offcuts from the butterfly quilt that my sister & I made for my mom last year.

#quilting Tonight I started into some of my Christmas stash. Trying to mix in some of my licensed prints with more traditional fabrics while using from scraps for the bows.
January 9, 2026 at 12:49 AM
#quilting Tonight I decided on another whimsical pattern... Yeti in sci-fi pj's!
It just feels good to make fun stuff.
January 8, 2026 at 3:16 AM
#quilting Tonight I made some cacti. I'm enjoying mixing it up. I don't have the attention span for a single big project right now, so why not start 4 or 5? The logic holds.

#quilting First day back at school w/ kids. It went well, but I came home & took a 2 hour nap. Woke up refreshed and made these guys.
