If a working class kid from a council estate had Johnson’s moral compass he wouldn’t have ever been out of prison. But he gets away with it, every single time.

With #Sarkozy being sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, what would have become of Boris Johnson, Matt Hancock and others if they had been running France during the pandemic? And yet here, crickets.

It’s slaughter, deliberate, calculated and a crime against humanity. What Hamas did was evil and what Netanyahu is doing is evil. Who will stop him? Who will put an end to this?

Still under development but has lots of potential

We’ve drafted a web-based tool for desktop climate risk assessment, and we’re sharing it for early feedback here: lnkd.in/eUMqru-s
As this is a work-in-progress, we anticipate gremlins in the coding 👾any comments or bug reports are most welcome. Comments to [email protected] please.

Within the next few years, much sooner than expected, wildfires will change the landscape of southern England

A statement is not enough- if we are serious about stoping the slaughter then it’s time for the UK, France, Canada, Egypt and Saudi Arabia and other to form a coalition and enforce a no fly zone, put our hospital ships off Gaza’s coast supported by destroyers, and the Royal Marines on the ground

It really did come as a huge surprise to win this award for my paper at such a prestigious conference. The work that EURA do to bring together academics and practitioners in climate change resilience and sustainability is far reaching and impactful Thank you @EURA eura

The problem is that adaptation is not a given-it needs to planned strategically and methodically at all scales and that is not happening in the way you seem to be assuming. Net zero takes the headlines when actually given the rest of the world’s burning of fossil fuels resilience is also a priority
chrismedland.bsky.social
Nobody is arguing that this isn’t the case. The point is that even if we continue to lead by example and even if a large proportion of the worlds country’s follow suit we still cannot guarantee a liveable future hence resilience planning and adaptation is a must.
chrismedland.bsky.social
Let’s be honest about what a net zero uk achieves, as good as it is it definitely doesn’t secure us a liveable future- that would take the whole world doing the same. We need to increase resilience through adaptation and we need to work out how to pay for it so that an equitable transition is made.

The UK needs onshore wind power to help achieve @energygovuk net-zero targets. The @DefenceHQ is a major landowner here in Surrey with several large commons, such as Bramshott and Hankley, that have access roads and other infrastructure - can such land be utilised for renewables?

We are in the early stages of making a short film about climate change resilience & adaptation that will premier at the Sustain Film Festival in Guildford. Great to be working with the talented people at the University of Surrey, who were responsible for ‘Remembering the Future'

Social housing is key to economic growth but the manner of its procurement is key. Too much onus on private sector developers is holding completions back, holding the economy back. Councils need to be allowed to borrow to build social housing at scale and to retain ownership.

The new dining hall and kitchen building at the Alfriston School, Beaconsfield, is out to tender. With the contractor in place work is expected to start on site in July.

net zero is our brake as we crash into climate change head on but unfortunately we don’t have complete control of them, so push as hard as we like it will have limited effect. We have control over our resilience and adaptation however- we know what’s coming and must prepare as a matter of priority

The Paris Agreement is failing and even the UK is failing to meet the Sustainable Development Goals so is the UN’s 2030 Agenda dead in the water? With Trump about to take power it certainly looks that way, so what’s next?
