I asked Ottawa Charge defender Vita Poniatovskaia about an area she’s made the biggest stride in:

“The mental aspect. It's hard not being in the lineup every day. But I think it's a great learning point because it teaches you how to be an even better teammate.”

Having the chance to speak with her today, I’ll say this about Fanuza Kadirova:

She may not speak much English, but my goodness! She’s as enthusiastic and engaging as anyone. Kadirova was also honest and thoughtful in all her answers and was very appreciative.

She stopped practice to remind the group how loud she wants them to be. “In this building, in this moment, this place should be loud. Communicate and you’ll see how good we can be.”

Brynäs IF has announced that goaltender Ena Nystrøm has suffered a lower body injury. They have signed Slovenian goaltender Pia Dukaric for the remainder of this season.

Indications are that she’ll arrive in early February, according to the team.
