I unabashedly love the 1989 Legend of Zelda cartoon that aired Fridays after the Super Mario Bros. Super Show and had so much fun making this cosplay! 🩵

Oops, I forgot to post the commercial 😆

I know I’ll never have the time to devote to being competitive at modern MK tournaments, but I still love the series. This game had such a tremendous impact on my childhood — it taught me the importance of perseverance in the face of doubt. ❤️

Depending on the opponent, it needs to be modified since it can be punished, but I still love it.

Going through my UMK3 guide, I realized I had an Electronic Gaming Monthly page I’d pulled from the magazine with combos folded inside! I’m glad I kept that! 9/?

After seeing me play, he never told me I should “pick something [I] won’t die right away” at again. 😉

My main was Classic Sub-Zero, who had an awesome combo that’s still my favorite of any MK game to date. I demonstrate it below: HP, HP, D + LP, D + HP, jump kick, slide. 8/?

They often looked annoyed that a little girl would ask to play, but I studied the moves in this very Arcade Secrets book and was able to defeat them. It was so rewarding when I went back to visit my dad and asked him to take me to the arcade. 7/?

Rather than the bowling alley, they were at a community center and the military Base Exchange. They were always busy, so I had to push my boundaries to play against older players in the military. 6/?

Rather than deter me, that compelled me to “get good.” I saved my allowance and practiced daily at the bowling alley across from my elementary school. I used Mileena and Sub-Zero and eventually could beat the AI easily.

About a year later, UMK3 cabinets hit the arcades. 5/?

It introduced characters like Mileena, Kitana, and Jade.

One of my most vivid memories is when my dad gave me $1 at a movie theater arcade. I picked Kitana and got destroyed. What he said next was extremely impactful: “Pick something where you won’t die right away.” 4/?

UMK3 also featured new stages, such as Scorpion’s Lair.

It’s difficult for me to pick between UMK3 and MKII as my favorite in the franchise. I started with the original, often playing it at my best friend’s house. I loved the lore and grittiness, and MKII’s release had me spellbound. 3/?

UMK3 added several characters missing from the MK3 roster, including Kitana, Jade, Reptile, and Scorpion, as well as unlockable secret characters Mileena (22264-22264), Ermac (12344-44321), and Classic Sub-Zero (81835-81835). Noob Saibot was also playable on SNES, though hidden in arcade. 2/?

Happy Saturday, everyone! I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Also, happy 29th anniversary of the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 release for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis! It initially debuted in arcades on November 6, 1995, before releasing for home consoles on October 11, 1996. 🧵 1/?

I’m beyond excited to experience the enhanced version—particularly Ben Starr’s take on Dycedarg!

Have fun playing today if you get the chance! ❤️ 7/7

The stirring score heightens the powerful experience, and all the pieces come together to form a masterpiece.

The Ivalice Chronicles features classic gameplay as well as a new, graphically enhanced, voice-acted version. 6/?

Beyond the enjoyable gameplay is an unforgettable tale of political intrigue weaving together complex characters, many with shocking motives and decisions. I dare not spoil the many twists and turns for those who have not played, but I can assure you this is a story worth experiencing. 5/?

Job Points earned in battle allow players to unlock new abilities, and units begin as a Squire (physical base) or Chemist (magic base). There are so many options and paths to choose from that the game’s replayability is tremendous! 4/?

Gameplay unfolds on isometric fields across square-tiled battlefields. There’s also a world map where players travel between towns and battle points. Players can choose from 20 job classes—including Knight, Wizard, Thief, Dancer, and more. (I like Dancer because of my dance background ☺️) 3/?

Set in the world of Ivalice (also the setting of Final Fantasy XII), this tactical RPG chronicles the journey of highborn Ramza Beoulve and his commoner companion Delita as they navigate the class-based Lion War.

Happy Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles release day! 🥳

Tactics is one of the finest Final Fantasy games. Square first released the title on PlayStation in Japan in June 1997 and in the U.S. in January 1998. 🧵 1/?

Also, even though it wasn’t her traditional blue, I loved Chun-Li’s dress and still have a terrible childhood drawing of it 😆

My favorite scene is their dialogue in Bison’s chambers where Chun-Li describes her village being attacked & death of her father. In response, Juliá perfectly delivers the line, “For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.” 6/?

I do remember being excited about Minogue’s casting as Cammy because I did a Jazzercise performance to “Loco-Motion” at a waterpark a few years prior 🤭 That song was everywhere in the early ’90s!

Ming-Na Wen and Raúl Juliá flexed their acting prowess notwithstanding the silliness. 5/?

I loved Van Damme movies like Bloodsport and Kickboxer, so I was excited that he’d play Guile. His $8 million fee alone took a substantial portion of the $35 million budget. There are also assertions that he partied through much of filming, notably with Kylie Minogue. 4/?
