I was in 3 schools yesterday and these #multilingual and #inclusive signs caught my eye!
Thank you to @cldleadership.bsky.social for holding space today for sharing, learning and listening! I was honored to share some of the stories and our learning from a current research project that weaves together 3 themes that I value and believe are essential in our educational systems.
This week we are reading Jo Chrona’s “Where do we begin? Setting up spaces in a good way" from #wayiwah & Jamilah Pitts’ “Introduction" from #TowardLiberation

I acknowledge the use of ChatGPT to create this image. I entered the following prompt: "Create an image of gathering threads for weaving."
Thread 1 Who We Are Matters—Situating Ourselves: developing our #identity as a new #learningcommunity and #reflecting on who we have been as #learners & what it means to be a learner and #teacher
I've changed my approach to planning for the course by gathering learning experiences and resources into 4 threads that we are going to weave together over the semester as we co-construct knowledge and new understanding.
After teaching an Intro to #EdPsych class 15 times, I'm getting ready to teach a new course on teaching & learning practices tomorrow evening.
A #designchallenge with some intermediate students today! Can you create a name tag that is also a pencil holder? Your only supplies - 1 pcs of card stock, 1 pipe cleaner, & some masking tape. #backtoschool #creativethinking
Yes, they seemed to learn more words and some continued to favour this strategy. Other opted to use other strategies.
Semi-annual trip to @vankidsbooks and I had no intention of buying more books, but brought home these new treasures! Have you read any of them? #newbooks #summerreads #disabilitypridemonth #diversebooks #diversereads #inclusion #dyslexia #deaf #deafkidsrock #neurodiversity #tourettesyndrome
We levelled up our word sort work today. We are still working on suffixes and used this great resource from @tarheelstate_teacher We loved it! Thank you for sharing it! #summerlearning #wordwork #vocabularybuilding #literacy #reading #morningroutines
Check out some of the new #vocabulary words that we have found in our novels! #newwords #summerlearning #contextclues #reading
What is more quintessentially summer than reading outside? We are fortunate to have forest and shade close by. #literacy #summerlearning #kidlit #summerreads
Today’s adventure in summer literacy was all about visualizing! Describing the setting, using our sense to imagine what we would see? Hear? Smell? Touch? Can you guess which books we are reading by these illustrations of the setting? #literacy #summerlearning #litcircles #kidlit
Adventures in summer #literacy! I’m working with a fantastic group of young people, we created a charter based on how they want to feel during #summerlearning they generated questions to help pick a good book, and then we did a #booktasting to find a few good books for each of them! #kidlit #reading
Blessed to have to the opportunity to return to Whitehorse last week. Time to listen, learn alongside wise elders, and hear stories across diverse perspectives. #grateful #heartfull #generativeconversations
Grateful for the intentional space that was held for learning and generative discourse. And for the many new connections with scholars and practitioners and the possibilities of future conversations.
And that’s a wrap on an amazing trip - Whitehorse, the traditional and current lands of Ta'an Kwäch'än Council and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. The warmth and welcome of the many people I met… the stories I heard… and those I learned alongside… feeling grateful and blessed!

So many provocations that will have me thinking for a long time. Grateful to hear about Dr. ABC's journey of self-decolonization.
So powerful! I hope they post the video. Worth listening! Dr. ABC posed the question "who are you without colonialism?"

"... we have to continue disrupting deficit thinking...
