Regret to report I'm about to be back on my chanbara bullshit.

Apparently in 2023 there was a screening on the Disney lot for surviving crew, their guests, and VIPs or a recently uncovered 35mm print of the OG cut. Really really wish they would scan that thing and do some kind of release.

With Sophia out here recruiting via text for WB (who it seems are now based out of Indonesia?), I think it’s safe to say, the film industry is on it’s way back up guys.

We met the lead on our flight to TIFF and he seemed so excited! Really want to check it out.

🚨 LOW TICKET ALERT 🚨 U.S. Premiere of THE FURIOUS (2025) + Q&A Beyond Fest 2025 💥

Directed by fight-choreography master Kenji Tanigaki, THE FURIOUS is a heart-pounding action thriller that strips martial arts of glamour + embeds it in visceral reality.

My wallet is weeping at the prospect of the Thanksgiving drop of the Enterprise D set.

The martial arts movie I cut is headed for TIFF Midnight Madness!

Have you fought any of the optional Mimes yet? I missed the prologue one, but my wife was watching me play when I stumbled on my first one in Spring Meadows and she about died at the cosmetic for Gustave it unlocked when I beat it.

I have enjoyed all three of these tremendously.

I went down there to look around, and it felt very grim.

Technicolor/The Mill's creditors are auctioning off literally everything from their Culver offices, and really hoping this original Technicolor 35mm 3 Strip camera finds a good home. cagp.com/lot-details/...

As post super I worked with once put it, while shrugging his shoulders and signing a PO for something the director had insisted on, "Art's a big fella."

Got it. So it seems like a film-out of the chosen take, rescan, don't dustbust it to keep the dirt, and then do the freeze/push in in the DI.
christonick.com
Do we think that final freeze and push-in from the S2 finale of Severance last night was done optically when they printed the 35mm film-out, or created digitally and then filmed out from the online edit with freeze and zoom baked in?

Had to open Aspera to send off some VFX shots for a short, and clearly it's been a minute

Studio Marketing Dept: We need more Italian things for this end montage!

The Alto Knights Trailer Editor: Say no more.
A bowl of spaghetti bolognese that appears as part of a quick cut montage in the trailer for the new De Niro gangster film The Alto Knights.

Big post-Oscar shake in NoHo. No warning from the MyShake app either.

With Kennedy stepping down from the helm of Lucasfilm after 13 years, only one successor has both the business acumen and the insider knowledge of the franchise to successfully navigate the next phase of the property.

Plus mind tricks don’t work on him.

Exactly. I realize it's a hot button issue, but if he's nominated for acting, pretending like we're giving an award for Best Hungarian Spoken feels disingenuous. The alternative would be that he would have just spoken Hungarian poorly for two minutes, and 99.9% of us would be none the wiser.
christonick.com
My feature film editorial hot take: No one who knows anything about Post should think that The Brutalist Respeecher "controversy" is awards disqualifying. We steal consonants & vowels from different reads all the time. 2 mins of augmented Hungarian does not invalidate the rest of the performance.

Met friends for lunch at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank and the showing of David Lynch shirts was strong.

I never thought I’d have reason to say this, but… god bless the 405, you big, uncrossable bastard!
