Hot take, given some peoples opinions on this, but Commander is and will always be the better magic the gathering format for most people.
1v1 was always just the one friend in the group with the largest wallet/richest parents having all the fun till everyone else got bored.

In defense of the Half Elf/Orcs,Ect.
I come from two starkly different cultural backgrounds. A unique experience feels far more true to me than simply being told 'Your X or Y, Pick. That caught between worlds feeling is real to me. Villians try to make that answer simple. Be Unique.
