“It’s a slap in the face of the immigrant community, ” said Assemblymember Cinthia Zermeño Moore (D-Las Vegas) of the resolution. “We do not need to study immigration issues. We need to act.”

Today the Assembly unanimously passed SB6, which will begin to address the historical injustices against the predominantly Black Windsor Park community. Justice for Windsor Park is long overdue.

I voted no on the Governor's crime bill because it ignores the injustices against our Black, Brown, and immigrant communities. Without the amendments introduced by the ACLU, I could not support this bill.

Tonight, the Assembly unanimously agreed that working families should not have to go hungry because of the cruelty of the Trump administration. SB3 created the Silver State General Assistance Program to fund SNAP in the event of future government shutdowns.

I cannot approve the Governor's crime bill because this bill cannot be about justice when it ignores the injustices happening in our communities to immigrants and anyone an ICE agent thinks looks like an immigrant.

I was grateful and honored for the opportunity to judge altars at the Día de Muertos celebration at the Springs Preserve. Each year our community comes together and brings new life to our traditions. I can’t wait for next year!

Thank you to all veterans for your service to our country, especially the immigrant veterans who often go unrecognized. We see you and we're grateful for you.

Open enrollment has begun for more than 100,000 Nevadans who buy their insurance from the ACA marketplace (Nevada Health Link). Premium tax credits that make health care affordable for millions of people are set to expire if the Congressional GOP do not extend them.

These last few weeks have been hard for so many Nevadans — from furloughed federal workers to families receiving SNAP — facing the Trump administration's benefit pause that started last Saturday. Here is what we know right now:

If Congressional GOP do not approve the funding bill to reopen the federal government by Nov. 1st, we expect that the normal SNAP benefit payments will be delayed. This comes as families across Nevada are already struggling with rising prices on food and housing.

A big thank you to the Young Dems for connecting the community with resources and information on union career opportunities, and to Plumber and Pipefitters Local 525 for opening up their union hall to the community.

Yesterday, brave students at Cheyenne High School here in Las Vegas walked out of class in protest of ICE actions. These students are showing us what type of world they want to live in — one where our communities and our schools are safe from the lawless actions of ICE.

Today we honor the history and triumphs of 7.4 million indigenous people who call this country home. I will always honor and lift indigenous voices in the legislature and every room where they have been silenced.

The lawless and undemocratic actions of the Trump administration are putting our health care, our jobs, and the safety of our community at risk. Join us on October 18th and let's show Trump and his allies we will not bow to a wannabe king.

During an immigration raid in Chicago last week, ICE zip-tied and dragged four US citizen children out of their homes naked. These are not the actions of a legitimate law enforcement agency; these actions are immoral and cruel, and are designed to terrorize our communities.

ICE claims to be just enforcing laws, yet they come into our communities acting like lawless thugs. Rafael Lopez Gomez and his family deserve answers.

Today marks the 8th anniversary of the mass shooting that left 60 dead and injured hundreds more. Our community will never forget the loss we suffered, but we will keep standing together. My prayers are with the survivors and the families of the victims.

Trump has imposed yet another round of taxes on working families — these could double what you pay at the pharmacy for some prescriptions. The cost of life-saving medications is already out of reach for millions. These new tariffs are an attack on working people.
