I realized that people usually put up a character sheet of themselves at some point, so I got one. It's a bit much, but so am I.
Post yesterday was preachy and annoying, sorry. In other, far less important news, my guitar practice is going ok and at this rate I may even be able to play a song within the next 3 to 6 months. I'm hoping I'll be able to come back soonish to share an original song, so maybe look out for that.๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŽค :)

Fair enough. I can't claim that I'm familiar enough with the law to meaningfully disagree with that assessment. Whether the agent's perception of the situation as an "active shooter" was reasonable will probably need to be decided by a jury.

I appreciate the discussion, though.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm hesitant to pass judgement until there's a full statement released and I don't think an off duty ICE agent should attempt to act as police as they're trained to enforce fed immigration law, but if it's found that Porter fired on the agent then I wouldn't support that.

Hi! I attempted to find the LA Times story where this was said, but I have not been able to. I have found this has been stated by the lawyer of the ICE agent and an anonymous source, but no independent investigators. Would you mind posting a link to the story you're referring to? Thanks :)

I'm sorry if any of this is confusing or didn't come across well.

tl;dr Fuck ICE, protect your neighbors, believe things can be better and be willing to fight for it, and I wish you all the best.

18/ that the people they don't like suffering is a better or more realistic goal than everyone living better. To hell with those people.

I hope that the people who are fighting now use this moment to realize what they're really up against and that that drives them to keep fighting.

17/ Caring about people even when you don't get anything out of it helps make a world that cares about everyone, including you and the people important to you.

A lot of people are really invested in people giving up on this because they benefit from things being exactly as they are or believe

16/ Dare to believe that you can actually make a difference, even if that difference is just convincing one more person to fight with you. Building community where you are, fighting to make your corner of the world a better place, shows people everywhere else that it's possible.

15/ It is only impossible if people give up in advance. It is hard work, for sure, and I know people already have a lot to deal with in their own lives, but that work makes everything better for everyone. Every small step, even if it feels insignificant, still gets us closer to a better future.
January 31, 2026 at 6:19 PM
14/ I'm just hoping that this will not be where people stop. The challenge now is recognizing the real problems and daring to believe that they can change, too. I realize fixing those things feels impossible, that it all feels too big to ever deal with, but that's not true.
January 31, 2026 at 6:19 PM
13/ making things better. It's easier to wallow in despair about the big problems and focus on how impossible they are to overcome because then you don't have to actually do anything. But right now people are doing!

Keith Porter Jr, a black American citizen and father, was shot by an off-duty ICE agent on New Year's Eve. DHS claims the agent thought he was a threat because he fired a gun in the air. We don't have video of his killing, either.
