Thanks to strong pushback from CJ and other advocates for low-income renters, Maryland’s Rules Committee has rejected a proposal that would have limited tenants’ discovery rights.

ALICE describes Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed households who cannot afford basic needs. ALICE could be anyone – and anyone can become ALICE after an emergency.

The #MarylandJusticePassport allows users to take control of their legal issues by keeping track of documents and deadlines, finding referrals for #LegalHelp, and securely sharing their files.

This project is supported by a grant from Maryland Judiciary's #AccessToJustice Department.

In 2025, CJ placed 81% of eligible tenants through the Coordinated Intake System (CIS)—giving Maryland residents facing eviction access to legal help with one phone call.

The ACE-CIS program is administered and funded by the Maryland Legal Services Corporation.
