Humanist. Misanthrope. Conflicted.
On the upside, Mrs. Trump is going to be on the target list of every crime gang in Europe for the rest of her life, and for every political gang that's looking for some ez financing too. She might want to watch a few Aldo Moro films -- and plan on spending a lot of time close to home.

Stay calm, have a plan to vote & have your vote counted in November despite whatever barriers the Trump administration erects by then -- and encourage your non-MAGA neighbors to do the same. Also -- give some thought to what happens after the election.

I wonder if Minnesota is what the Bush administration had in mind when they invented "homeland security?"

We've heard from the Obamas on the Minneapolis murders.
We've heard from the Clintons on the Minneapolis murders.
I think we WOULD have heard from George H.W. Bush on the
murders.
But what have we heard from the George W. Bushes on the
murders?

Don't hold your breath.

Take a bunch of high school dropouts.
Put them in ersatz uniforms so they can play soldier.
Organize them in armed gangs.
Promise them bonuses based on how many people they abduct.
Tell them they have "absolute immunity" from any laws.

Bingo -- that's 90% of I.C.E. on the ground.

Yeah, yeah -- I know: We're all cynical as hell about politics and politicians. But Canadians can be proud of their PM.

Multiple indications Trump is seriously ill, and plenty of history to suggest that he will seek to "go out with a bang."

Not too soon to start serious ongoing assessments his state of mind. A "plan B" would be advisable too.

Indeed.

Any decent person with even a child's sense of priorities will boycott the world cup in the U.S. anyway.
January 21, 2026 at 9:29 PM
I think all of us here in the U.S. are about to be schooled in the meaning of "collective guilt." "I never voted for the Republican party" isn't going to work.

Poor Iran. God help them if Trump gets involved.

"Reassurances" from a Congressional delegation while the Trump Republicans are in the majority? I'm sure our one-time European allies know exactly what those are worth.

If the people of Iran have been paying any attention at all to recent events, they know that Trump will "help" -- himself to Iran's oil resources.

If there were ten decent Republicans in the House of Representatives, Trump would be impeached by the end of the month. But it would take 24 decent Repulicans in the Senate, and theirs not a snowball's chance in hell that that would happen.

So your only hope for change is to vote in November.

Don't underestimate the courage of the citizens that are filming this bullshit. These I.C.E. thugs know no restraint or decency.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

There's a mistake here I think.
J.D. Vance is not playing a role: he is telling you who he really is and what he really stands for.
