Fact check: The Wandsworth Society has pushed to scrap the gyratory since 1986. In 2021, sources within the council were already very sceptical on TfL moving forward. With more than £27m earmarked (>£35m today), societies urged to implement even part of the scheme. The Labour Council remains silent.

The gyratory, covering Armoury Way, Swandon Way & the High Street, was seen as unsafe & outdated. Millions collected from developers were justified as funding its removal.
