Our results revealed a significant trade-off between seed oil content and seed longevity, which may aid in understanding species regeneration in alpine soils and inform precise protocols for ex-situ seed conservation. (4/5)

In the studied species, seed oil content ranged from 1% to 34% and exhibited strong phylogenetic constraints, which likely prevent selective responses of alpine species across altitudinal and microclimatic gradients. (3/5)

Focusing on seed oil content and composition (ratio of Unsaturated and Saturated Fatty Acids), we tested three potential trade-offs between oil content and seed mass, seed longevity and germination timing, revealing a significant trade-off between seed oil and seed longevity. (2/5)

Today at @uniovi.bsky.social a very interesting meeting with Sandra Díaz, an internationlly recognized researcher focused on functional ecology and co-chair of the Global Biodiversity Assessment (IPBES).

For my second PhD paper, we found significant intraspecific variation in germination base water potential along local microclimatic gradients. Seeds from drier sites germinated better under drought.

In my first PhD paper, we studied the germination phenology of alpine plants in two microclimatic conditions and found that colder conditions delayed germination for almost two months.
