That’s a story that apparently needs to be told more, I know a handful of only slightly older friends who actually went through it, some against their will, some by their own choice (though i’d argue it was desperation) and they find it very difficult to talk about, it really is super traumatic

Oh much happier! After the celibacy episode I had already let go of any preconceived notions of what relationships and life with myself & maybe someone else?? was supposed to look like, so I was down to explore, being a nude model, polyamory, open relationships, throuples, all kinds of multitudes!

Oh very interesting! Yea twas a lot of anguish and mental gymnastics when I went into celibacy on purpose, but there were some benefits, self-control and focus obvi, but also what relationships really mean, the real value of and investment in friendships, an open-mindedness to other ways of being…

I got tired of being treated like a second class inconvenience, and came to the conclusion that celibacy is useful if it is a byproduct of a much larger purpose, but it cannot be a purpose in itself, so I decided to figure out what my purpose was, and now I think that it doesn’t involve celibacy 😂

Yea, it’s this idea that’s it’s fine to feel gay, but not okay to act on it, which seems neat in theory, BUT I dared to try it, and really challenged folks hard at what they were asking of me and the lack of support they provided for it. And still I was not really accepted or felt like I belonged…

I took a weird different route, after that path was banned and some traumatic early sexual experiences and took a brief vow of Side B celibacy (IYKYK) form 2012-2016, then I lost my faith, became an existentialist, moved to San Francisco and became a nude model! Which has been very healing ❤️‍🩹

To think this topic may be revisited by the Supreme Court and given validation is wild to me, as I was maybe only a few months away from a totally different life path, and likely one that would’ve ended with me not being here at all or in a greatly diminished capacity

If California didn’t ban conversion therapy back in 2012, I probably would’ve ended up in it, as all literature and authority figures in my evangelical community were steering me in that direction, I even have emails from my Christian school counselors prior to the ban that recommended it to me…
