Yes, that extends to many of the inner functions as well. Robust solutions that are easily accessed, maintained, cleaned, and operate through almost anything. I worked primarily with heart-surgery related equipment; patient temperature control, muscle paralysis, blood filtering, etc.

I've worked in the medical device industry and they can be pretty neat! Sometimes far less complex than you might imagine for how big they are, but often that hollow volume helps protect the internal workings from bumps and bangs of getting wheeled around a hospital for many years.

Try massaging your lymph nodes maybe? I get an intensely painful lockjaw sometimes because a lymph node slipped out of position and gets tangled under the jaw till I can push it back into place.
